This tropical fruit salad is perfect for beginners. The preparation is easy and the dish is versatile. Serve it as a side item or desert. If you have children around, you can make it without the rum, just substitute whipped topping as the dressing.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 mangoes (peeled and cut into cubes)
  • 2 bananas (peeled and sliced into rounds)
  • 1 cup fresh pineapple (cut into chunks)
  • 2 oranges (peeled and sectioned)
  • 1 star fruit (sliced)
  • 1/4 cup light rum
  • 1/2 cup coconut (grated and toasted )

PREPARATION:

1. Mix all the fruits, except the coconut, together in a glass bowl.

2. Pour the rum over the fruit and mix it well.

3. Allow the fruit salad to sit for 30 minutes before serving.

4. Sprinkle toasted coconut over the salad when your ready to serve the salad.

Serves: 4-6 people.
