Making oven fried sweet potatoes is easy. They are a healthy alternative to the traditional French Fries. They cook up quickly and unlike French Fries, they do not need to be cooked twice.

The seasonings for Oven Fried Sweet Potatoes are varied, it can be as simple as salt and pepper or exotic when tossed in a combination of ground spices. Either way, you are sure to love these fries.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 35 minutes

Preheating oven: 20 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour, 5 minutes

Yield: Serves 3


  • 1 lb white fleshed sweet potatoes (substitute with yellow-fleshed sweet potatoes).
  • Oil
  • All purpose seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F

  2. Wash and scrub sweet potatoes. Cut off the top and bottom (about 1/4 inch).

  3. Cut the sweet potatoes length ways into 1/4 inch slices. Then place each slice face down and cut further into 1/4 strips.

  4. Transfer cut sweet potatoes to a large baking sheet, drizzle oil to coat the potatoes, sprinkle all purpose seasoning and salt and pepper to taste and toss to mix and coat.

  5. Spread the sweet potatoes in an even, single layer, you want the potatoes to be making direct contact with the pan.

  6. Bake for 17 minutes then toss potatoes using a flat spatula. Return pan to the oven and bake for a further 17 to 23 minutes. Remove from oven, toss and serve immediately.

  7. These fries can be served as is or with your favorite French Fries condiment.
